Steve & Lyn Bell

Steve Lyn photoSteve and Lyn moved to Hervey Bay at the beginning of 2008, Steve had previously worked in a well known tackle store in Caboolture, north of Brisbane. Steve started at Fishermans Corner shortly after they made the move to Hervey Bay. At the end of 2015 Steve and Lyn took over the business from previous owners Jim and Kay Sullivan.

Steve has extensive experience and knowledge about estuary and shoreline fishing for bread and butter species such as Whiting, Flathead, and Bream, as well as fishing the local reefs. You will often see him prowling the foreshores chasing elbow-slapper Sand Whiting on ultra light gear.  He is only to happy to pass on that knowledge.

Jason Edmonds

Jas photoJason came aboard with Fishermans Corner mid 2008 after a 5 year stint in another local tackle store. Originally from the bush, Jason has been a fishing fanatic all his life and has developed a very broad knowledge of fishing techniques and all things piscatorial.

After traveling and fishing around Austalia in the late 90’s he settled in Hervey Bay due to its diverse range of fishing options and fantastic climate. A couple of years spent working on local charter boats and offshore commercial vessels, together with every possible spare moment spent on the water chasing fish has developed a great understanding of our local waters and fishing options.

He most enjoys lure fishing for barra and jacks, working soft plastics or livebaiting for reef fish like coral trout, reds, blueys or snapper and tangling with the big impoundment barra of both Monduran and Awoonga.

Jason is our reel servicing specialist, who prides himself on quality workmanship. Come in with all your reel servicing enquiries, Jason will only be too happy to point you in the right direction.

Josh Power

Josh photoJosh has lived in Hervey Bay for most of his life, growing up on a Redclaw Crayfish farm and started at Fishermans Corner back in 2004 when the store was still on the esplanade. Josh has worked in the store on and off for around 6 years, as well as a stint on the Sunshine Coast managing a well known fishing tackle store along with various other retail positions in Hervey Bay.

He most enjoys targeting fish on lures in the estuaries and freshwater rivers/creeks and impoundments, but is just as happy chasing tuna in Platypus Bay or chasing a feed of reef fish.

Josh also presents the weekly local fishing report on WIN News every Thursday night along with radio reports Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Nath Nitschinsk

nath photoNath is a 6th generation local, growing up on his grandparents cane farm in Maryborough. He spent much of his childhood fishing the banks of the Mary River chasing everything from whiting to barra.

Since his earlier years, Nath has chased just about anything with fins in our local waters. He still holds a soft spot for threadies, barra and jacks and spends a lot of time on the rivers. You’ll also find Nath out chasing blue parrot on the shallow reefs, big trout on lures on the wider reefs, tuna in platypus bay and marlin on the flats. Nath is also an avid fly fisherman and enjoys exploring the skinny water on a kayak chasing bass, jacks and sooties. He is an active member in the Fraser Coast Fish Stocking Association which stocks Lenthall’s Dam with Australian bass and barramundi.

Nath joined the team in early 2015 and brings a wealth of local knowledge to the store and is more than happy to get you out on the water catching fish.
